GAME SUMMARY: The Coatesville Raiders JV Baseball team (1-0) opened their 2009 campaign at home with a 12-3 win over Kennett High School on a blustery Monday afternoon. In the bottom of the first inning, Dan Long’s 2 run home run to deep left field got the offense started, while in the second inning, Long and Clint Cunningham each drove in another run which proved to be all the team needed. Kyle Stewart and Kevin Quinn also provided RBI’s for the squad. Donnie Copeland kept starting pitcher Andrew Czepeil and reliever Kevin Quinn on the mark as Kennett could only plate 3 runs.

In their second home game of the season, the young Raiders plated 8 runs in the first 3 innings, then held firm in the late innings to preserve the win. Jordan Warmijak and Dan Long each had 2 rbi’s, while John DiOttavio, Clint Cunningham and Anthony Mobile had hits for the home team. DiOttavio pitched 4 plus innings, yielding 3 earned runs on 4 hits, while striking out 4. GAME SUMMARY: The Coatesville JV Raiders (4-3) won there third straight as they visited the open spaces of Sun Valley High School. Deer scattered in the outfield as the Raiders had 12 hits in the 10-2 victory. Dan Long and Colby Perry combined for an outstanding pitching effort, giving up 8 hits but holding the home team to just 2 runs while the defense was with one exception, error free to complete a perfect 3 for 3 Spring Break effort. Kyle Stewart and Jordan Warmijak contributed 2 rbi’s each to the effort while Brandon A’Hara’s triple down the right field line sparked the seventh inning. Logan Kudlacik Colby Perry and Dylan Grasmuck also added hits to the 12 hit attack.

GAME SUMMARY: The Coatesville JV Raiders (5-3) won there fourth straight game with a victory over home team Unionville by a score of 8-6. Jordan Warmijak plated 3 runs with a home run in the second while John DiOttavio drove in 2 with a home run in the sixth inning. Unionville continued to battle as Andrew Czepiel went the distance while yielding 4 runs in the last two innings, but once again, the defense shut down the rally to preserve the win. His complete game effort consisted of 4 K’s and only 1 earned run. Dylan Grasmuck, Donnie Copeland and Czepiel each drove in one run, contributing to the victory.

WC East batted through their lineup in each of the first two innings as Raider’s pitchers gave up 9 earned runs on 13 hits, including 3 home runs to the Vikings as 8 of their starters had hits in the slugfest. Coatesville scored 5 earned runs on 7 hits, including a 2 run homer by John DiOttavio, but was never able to overcome the early deficit.

Jordan Warmijak, Dan Long and Kyle Stewart were the only C-ville players to get hits in the morning contest as Conestoga’s pitching kept the Raiders off balance throughout the game. GAME SUMMARY: The bats that were silent in the first game of the Saturday double header came to life in the second game as the Coatesville JV Raiders (6-5) exploded for 13 earned runs in the afternoon home contest defeating Downingtown West 13 to 10. The squad pounded 15 hits, lead by John DiOttavio, who hit for the cycle while going 5-5, including a grand slam in the 2nd frame as the Raiders plated 8 runs in the inning. The D-Town squad took advantage of starter Andrew Czepiel in the sixth inning, plating 5 earned runs, but the hot bats of C-Ville continued, plating enough runs to preserve the victory for Czepiel as Colby Perry struck out 2 in the 7th inning for the save. Jordan Warmijak (3-5, 2 run home run, triple), Dan Long (3-3, triple, 3 runs scored) and Kyle Stewart (2-3, double, rbi, run scored) led the offensive onslaught.

GAME SUMMARY: Timely hitting and costly miscues allowed the JV squad to post an 8-5 lead over the Golden Knights, but in the 5th & 6th innings, the Raiders gave up 9 runs (3 unearned) as Rustin held on for a 14-12 victory. Coatesville had 10 hits in the contest including triples by Warmijak and DiOttavio, and singles by Perry, Long and Mobile. Eight different Raiders took the hill as the Knights topped the Raiders (6-6) who could not overcome the visitor’s mid-game scoring.

GAME SUMMARY: The JV Raiders got above the .500 mark (7-6) behind the 5 hit, 2 earned run complete game pitching effort of Andrew Czepiel. This game, won by the Raiders avenged an earlier season drubbing at the hands of a hot hitting Henderson team, whose bats were kept in check by Czepiel and the defense behind him. The offense lit up the diamond with 12 hits and 8 stolen bases, scoring almost at will, plating 14 runs in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th inning, upping their record to above .500 (8-7). While the offense flourished, John DiOttavio allowed only 2 batters to reach base during the first 4 innings, facing only 13 batters, while striking out 6, carrying a no-hitter into the 5th and final frame. In the fifth, a walk, a single (the only hit yielded by DiOttavio) and 2 miscues, allowed 2 runs to score.
