GAME SUMMARY: On a bitterly cold evening the Red Raiders opened the 2009 season on a sour note as Kennett knocked off Coatesville 9 – 8. The Blue Demons jumped out to a 6 – 0 lead in the second inning and didn't look back. The Red Raiders chipped away with a run here and a run there, narrowing the lead to 6 – 4, but Kennett tacked on 3 more runs in the 5th to give them a 5 run lead. It looked like the Raiders were poised for a comeback when they scored 4 in the 6th inning, but left the potential tying run in scoring position. Brandon Andrew & Billy Root both collected 2 hits and Andrew also had 3 RBI. On a night when both team's pitchers had problems getting the ball over the plate, Root came in to pitch the final 2 innings for the Red Raiders and shut down the Blue Demon's bats.
