Who is Paul Chenger?
Pictured is Paul Chenger when he played in the Nebraska State League for the Milwaukee Braves organization.
Paul Chenger graduated from Scott High School in 1956.
He played baseball as a pitcher, football as a quarterback and basketball as a guard for the high school.
He not only played baseball in high school, but also played five years for the Milwaukee Braves minor leagues.
His sport of baseball became legendary, compiling a 17-5 record in his senior year and pitching a near no-hitter in his last high school game -- against Downingtown.
He struck out the first 14 batters striking out 21 of 26 hitters in this nine inning game.
In 1959 he signed with the Braves as a sophomore at West Chester State College (now West Chester University) and compiled a 20-1 record where he roomed with another Yankees legend, Phil Niekro and played with Elrod Hendricks.
In his last game with the Braves, he pitched in the championship game of the Carolina League.
After his career with the Braves in 1964, he taught health and physical education at Scott High School.
That same year, he became assistant baseball coach under Atkinson.
He then became head coach the following year and stayed until 1972.
In the summer of 1968, he played in a league in Canada ending his baseball playing days.
In 1972, he became assistant pricipal at Coatesville Area High School and in 1981, he became principal at the senior high school.
He retired in 1996.
